Rahma Asif Born and raised in Qatar, I bring a rich international perspective to my work in education. Before moving to the United States, I lived in the scenic West Yorkshire, England, where I taught full-time in a primary school. I have also taught at the secondary level in Doha, Qatar and served both as an educator and administrator in Lahore, Pakistan, bringing a broad understanding of diverse educational systems and student needs. After relocating to the U.S., I began my journey with Charles County Public Schools as a long-term substitute at Dr. Mudd Elementary before becoming a full time Language Arts teacher at John Hanson Middle School. Over the years, I have embraced a variety of leadership roles-serving as English Language Arts Department Chair, Grade-Level Team Leader, ELO Coordinator, and curriculum writer for the county. These experiences strengthened my instructional leadership and provided valuable opportunities to collaborate with colleagues in enhancing teaching and learning across the district. Most recently, I served as Administrative Intern at Mattawoman Middle School, where I oversaw 6th grade administration, led PBIS implementation, served as a Community Engagement and Equity Liaison (CEE), coordinated Extended Learning Opportunities (ELO), and supported new teachers as the New Teacher Administrator and mentor. I also contributed to the school’s Professional Learning Team (PLT), using data-driven practices to guide instructional decisions that support student achievement. Academically, I hold a Master of Arts in English Literature and, most recently, a Master of Science in Educational Leadership with administrative certification from McDaniel College. I also hold an MSDE Online Teaching Certification. During my time in the United Kingdom, I earned my PGCE and Qualified Teacher Status from McMillan School of Teaching, Bradford College, and was ranked as an Outstanding Teacher by Ofsted. These credentials reflect my passion for lifelong learning and my commitment to both teaching excellence and effective school leadership. I am committed to fostering a caring and inclusive community that embraces all cultures and beliefs, while promoting the personal, social, and emotional growth of each student. I prioritize safeguarding their welfare, implementing best practices, and addressing emerging needs as they arise. At the heart of my leadership is a simple guiding principle: Every Child, Every Chance, Every Day. It is both an honor and a privilege to serve as Assistant Principal of Billingsley Elementary School. I am excited to partner with students, families, and staff to foster a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment- one where every child can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. |
