Billingsley Building

History

Billingsley Elementary School was among six recommendations made by a school naming committee to the Board of Education of Charles County in 2017. The Board voted four to three to accept the name of Charles County’s 37th public school and 22nd elementary school. A groundbreaking ceremony was held April 20, 2017. The school was slated to open for the 2018-19 school year, the opening was delayed by one school year. While located minutes away from a bustling Waldorf, Billingsley was placed further away from Billingsley Road and closer to the tree line to heighten the school’s environmental focus.

School gym and fields will be used after hours by the Charles County Department of Recreation, Parks and Tourism. The fields will be available for community use.
